EH – this has nothing to do with markets or investing per se but so what.  It has been a long week for the “bears” so time to kick the beer can down the road to the backyard or cottage and fire up some great Canadian tunes.  I have selected, with the help of my age “challenged” friends the following artists and songs:

1. Rush – “The Spirit of Radio” – Simply the best Canadian band ever and still not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!  If it was up to me, all 10 would be Rush tunes!

2. Guess Who – “American Woman” – Burton and the boys come in at number two.

3. Neil Young – “Cinnamon Girl” – Southern folks might not want him but who cares about them.

4. Bryan Adams – “Summer of 69” – remember him and Tina Turner doing “It’s Only Love”.

5. The Tragically Hip – “Bobcaygeon” – been there?

6. Blue Rodeo – “Five Days in July” – Jim Cuddy – the man my wife wished she married!!

7. Tom Cochrane (Red Rider) – “Big League – anything more Canadian than this?

8. Sarah McLaughlin – “Ice Cream” – could have put in “Angel”, “Sweet Surrender” - endless

9. Barenaked Ladies – “If I Had a Million Dollars” – you would also be accredited!

10. Drake – “Find Your Love” – I may be old but not totally outta touch!!

Honourable mentions go to Triumph, Gowan, Spoons, Nickelback, Our Lady Peace, April Wine, Maestro Fresh Wes, Chilliwack, BTO, Great Big Sea.

Not making the list at all (in fact you lose Canadian points) are Justin Bieber, Celine Dion, Glass Tiger, Alanis Morrissette, Loverboy, Corey Hart, Platinum Blonde and Shania Twain.

Of course there are lots of others but this is a good start!

How about a list of Canadian flicks to go with it?  I guess anything with Mike Myers or Jim Carrey is all you need – “Way”!!

Happy Canada Day!!
